Bethlehem-Jerusalem

After all the talk about the wall, long queues and how Israel is preventing tourists from coming to Bethlehem, Aftenposten's correspondent from Bethlehem explains that the fact that it's so easy to travel between the two cities is what's actually hurting tourism.

---

It's been Bethlehem's headache since 1967: tourists and pilgrims come via Israel and Jerusalem. From Jerusalem to Bethlehem it takes 10-15 minutes by bus. After the tourists and pilgrims have seen what they want, most of them turn back to the hotels of the big city of Jerusalem, and leave their money there again. This year the Israeli authorities set up shuttle buses to and from Bethlehem.
